Goal

Our goal is to foster scientific research that leads to advances in the treatment of individuals with mood and anxiety disorders, helping them to lead fulfilling and productive lives.

History
The VCU Mood Disorders Institute was founded in 1992, by Susan G. Kornstein, MD and James McCullough, Ph.D. Since then, MDI has been the site of over 50 industry and government-sponsored clinical trials, studying several forms of mood and anxiety disorders, as well as women's mental health concerns.

The findings gained from these studies have resulted in the development of effective treatments that you now see in today's marketplace.

MDI is affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry of Virginia Commonwealth University and the VCU Medical Center.
